About this policy

This website and its virtual physiotherapy services are operated by healthUpdated Inc. ("we", "us"), an Alberta company. Our services are available to residents of Alberta, Canada.

We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Some clinical records may also be subject to Alberta’s Health Information Act; where that Act applies, its requirements take precedence.

What information we collect

Our current interest forms are built with Google Forms. When you complete one of these forms, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • Your location
  • Information you provide in free-text fields, which may include health information

If you email us, book an appointment, or take part in virtual physiotherapy services, we also collect the information you provide in those interactions, including scheduling details and clinical information relevant to your care.

How we use personal information

We use personal information only to:

  • Respond to your interest-form submissions and enquiries
  • Schedule appointments and provide virtual physiotherapy services
  • Communicate with you about your care and our programs
  • Keep the records we are required to keep as a regulated physiotherapy practice

We do not use your information for any other purpose without your consent.

Consent

By submitting an interest form, booking an appointment, or taking part in virtual physiotherapy services, you consent to the collection and use of your information for the purposes described above. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see Withdrawing consent below).

In limited situations, the law permits or requires information to be collected, used, or disclosed without consent — for example, where disclosure is required by a court or by a regulatory body.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to run our practice:

Google Forms: our current interest forms collect the information listed above. Google processes and stores form responses on its servers, which may be located outside Canada.
Vercel: Vercel hosts this website and may process standard technical data (such as IP addresses in server logs) needed to serve pages, which may occur outside Canada.
Jane App: a practice-management platform being added for booking and scheduling. When it is active, booking information you enter will be processed by Jane App, and its own privacy notice will be shown during booking.

No other service providers receive or process personal information on our behalf.

When information is shared

Each provider above processes only the information needed for its function: Google for form responses, Vercel for website hosting, and Jane App (once active) for booking and scheduling.

Beyond those providers, we disclose personal information only with your consent or where disclosure is authorized or required by law.

We never sell or rent your personal information, and we never use it for third-party marketing.

Cookies and analytics

This website currently runs no analytics and uses no advertising trackers. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary technical mechanisms to serve the site.

If we add website analytics in the future, we will update this policy first to explain what is collected, why, and what choices you have.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above and to meet our legal and professional obligations, including the clinical record-keeping requirements that apply to a regulated physiotherapy practice in Alberta. When information is no longer required, it is securely deleted.

How we protect information

We protect personal information with password-protected accounts secured with two-factor authentication, access limited to the practice owner, and reputable cloud service providers. If a privacy incident ever affects your information, we will assess it promptly and notify you and the appropriate authorities where required.

Accessing or correcting your information

Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act, you generally have the right to request access to personal information held about you and to request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete.

To make a request, email lisa@myhealthupdated.com or write to:

We may ask you to verify your identity before responding, and we respond within the timelines set by PIPA.

Withdrawing consent

Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act, you generally have the right to withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information. To ask about withdrawing consent, contact lisa@myhealthupdated.com.

Withdrawing consent may limit or end our ability to provide a requested service, and some records must still be kept to meet legal and professional obligations. We will explain any such limits when you ask.
